About The Watchful Eye

Hello and Welcome

We are

THE WATCHFUL EYE

Greetings from the Watchful Eye, a light RP & PvE guild on The Venture Co. server. We try not to take ourselves too seriously, or seriously at all for that matter. If you like the sound of playing with a group of people who are in the game to have fun and explore game content to the fullest without setting tight schedules, expecting a certain spec of you, and demanding that a -game- become your second job you may want to check us out and stick around. We won't even mind if you are a newb or play a character you are still leveling. We help you get the phat lewts, yo. A good sense of humor and a high tolerance for potty mouths and sarcasm will serve you well here. Due to our inability to censor ourselves The Watchful Eye accepts only members over the age of 16. Your guild leader,

Another Update! Yay!

by Aethwyn, 178 days ago

Hi again, everyone!

I wanted to post again to address several points:
1. Attendance for raids
2. Guild updates
3. Salutations!

Attendance for raids

Yes, we have completed Trials of the Crusader on 10-man Normal mode, and yes, we have picked up Ulduar again and made a few visits to General (Yogg was cranky the few times we were there--apparently he doesn't like visitors). While we are slowly trying to get a more regular raiding schedule established, there are several important things that TWE needs from you, the raiders:

Please be aware that when you accept an invitation for a specified raid on a given day, you have made a commitment with the creator of that raid. This means that if you fail to honor this specific commitment, you have not only put the raid leader in an awkward position (to wait or not to wait?), but you also run the risk of delaying the raid and messing up that group composition (10 battle rezzes FTW!...not). While I understand that things in life can occur unexpectedly, simply "forgetting" doesn't quite make the cut in the realm of feasible excuses.

Having said that, it is also important to point out that if you do accept a raid invitation and are then not granted a spot in that specific raid because there was an overabundance of people, don't be discouraged! We try to be as fair as humanly possible when handing out invites, and sometimes you won't be given one due to experience, inexperience, gear, group composition, or simple human error. (As a side note, attending all the raids for which you've signed up actually ends up reducing the number of overabundant acceptance situations, because those who regularly attend will filter out to let others get into the raid.)

Guild Updates!

Recruitment is now CLOSED. This means we are no longer accepting applications for new players to join TWE, unless they are exceptional players whom we love and adore. :D This also means that it is no longer possible for you to invite a friend JUST because s/he/it is your friend; they should be outstanding players with skill and at least half a brain. ;)

With that said, I want to address the final point...

...Salutations!

I want to welcome all the new members of TWE!! This is rather belated and probably not the kind of welcome you were expecting (strippers and booze next time, I promise), but WELCOME! Now that we've closed recruiting, I'm really excited to get to know all of you who have recently joined us; don't worry, we don't bite too often. Those of you who are long-time TWE members, please take the time to get to know the new guildies, because they will inevitably play crucial roles in our future progression endeavors.

If you guys have come this far, thank you so much for your time and consideration in reading this, I really do appreciate it.
And as always...*TACKLE*!

Humbly yours,
Aeth

Time to get Back to Raiding

by Arlendell, 195 days ago

I thought I'd post a bit and I'll apologize in advance if some of this sounds harsh.

The Watchful Eye is a "casual raiding guild", but I think we need to be more serious about our raids and that has been lacking lately.

Like the saying goes, there are exceptions to every rule, except the rule about exceptions.
If you don't like these, I'm more than happy to let you set them up. I have said that if anyone wishes or wants to lead raids that if they set it up with me or any of the officers a head of time that you are more then welcome. It seems no one even took us up on that offer so guess what you are stuck with me leading the majority of the raids. With that said if you aren't leading the raid then STFU. I am more then willing to get your whispers on "HELPFUL" hints but I do not and will not accept the following: you whispering me with your point of view over and over again, you pushing your epeening on me thinking you are better then everyone else and know more about every fight and how we should do it, or any comments about how "you saw it done" or "that's how we did it in my old guild", guess what I don't care about how awesome you think you are or how you saw others do it or how your other guild did it, if you think they are so awesome then you can go raid with them. It seems that those that actually think they are better then everyone else are actually the weakest link in the group. I like to raid as a group and yes everyone has their strong suits and weak points but that doesn't make anyone better or worse then any other player. We need every "body" and everyone's skill to get raids done. Well except Gal because he is like some kind of healing dial up god.

On that note SHOW RESPECT. I know we like to dick around and mess with each other but sometimes I feel that in that mix sometimes respect for other people gets lost. If you know something bothers someone or what you are saying may be hurtful for that person, keep it to yourself.

COSTCO-Aethwyn. I know Aethwyn started out by bringing extra regs because often people would show up unprepared or would just run out and it came in handy. Now in addition to that Aeth went out and leveled not only her cooking but her fishing so that she could supply fish feasts to the raid. On top of that before every raid SHE takes the time to get flasks, food, and reg buffs and as helpful as this is I am starting to see people abuse this. We don't want your money for the flasks but what I am asking is for people to put even the smallest amount of thought into what they need before a raid. It takes time to gather the mats for those flasks. I know most have many 80's and plenty of time on their hands just dicking around bitching about how bored they are. In that time you could have looked at raid times and planned ahead as to what you will need so that you are prepared for any of the raid. Meaning getting regs have any extra gear you may need if you are asked to switch specs and even sending a note to myself or aeth letting us know a head of time what flask you need so we can gather what we need for that. Also if you have an alchemist or an herb gatherer you can get that stuff all by yourself. Another thing is even if you did not get ready before the raid DO NOT call out on vent over 9 other people to Aeth that you need stuff. Don't make her work even more so to find your lazy ass, be POLITE to her and whisper her asking her if she has what you need. DO NOT just go up to her and open trade expecting her to just give you stuff. DO NOT act rude to her when she doesn't just know to have flasks and whatever your high and mighty ass feels she should be giving you.

For raids that I post (particularly TOC and Ulduar):

Signing up does not guarantee you a spot! Until we get more numbers or our 80's that never show up for raids actually do we are stuck doing 10 mans. Meaning I can only have TEN people and in those ten people I can not take 3 rogues 3 warriors 3 hunters and one ret pally. Healers and tanks and those that can fill multiple rolls will always be of more use then those that are just pure dps. Sorry but that's how it is. Chances are if you are just pure dps and you do a shit ton of dps then you will have no problem getting in but if you do not perform up to par with the rest then you will not be first pick.
If you have an off spec and want to use it, make sure it's up to par with 10 man Ulduar.
Also I have gotten some feedback that there is a lot of interest in doing TOC. It seems that those that are upset that don't get invites to TOC are the same ones that have not even been to Ulduar and often either do not show up for raids that they sign up for, or they are always late, or they often have to leave after the raid starts. I get it life comes first if you can't make things you can't make it but if you don't really participate in guild events or raids on a regular basis then that doesn't really give you much room to say who does and doesn't get invited to raids.

When we are in progression, I'm likely going to take those who have proven themselves over someone I'm not sure can handle 3 hours of wiping on a new boss.
Flame Leviathan can be 15 manned with a pug group without even taking out the cannons, I've done it, fights like Hodir and Freya cannot.

Invites will start no less than 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.
That means you need to be on your main, out of a group and ready to accept the invite.
If I send you an invite and you decline it, are AFK or not on your main, don't expect a 2cd offer.

The raid STARTS at the posted time, that means we are inside, buffed and starting the first pull.

If you would like to go, SIGN UP. If you aren't on the calender list of sign-ups, you won't get an invite. Also those that sign up last minute will not be picked over someone who signed up a head of time. I will be coming down more and more on those that do not take the time to do something so simple as look at their cal. ALSO I NEVER WANT TO GET THIS FOLLOWING WHISPER AFTER I SEND AN INVITE, "Oh, what's this for?"
If you won't be able to log on until start time, say so. You can send whoever is leading the raid an ingame mail message asking to be put on standby if you aren't sure if you can make it or if you are going to be a bit late.If you know this in advance, log out at the instance, ready to walk in. This does not mean your spot will be saved. I know that if I am late because I couldn't get out of work early enough I am always fully prepared that even MY spot will be filled in a raid.

At T -10, I'm going to start looking for PuGs if there aren't enough in guild to fill what's needed, if you log on after a PuG has been invited, so sorry. Be on time next time.

Once you've accepted the invite, make your way to the instance. This habit of people hanging out in Dal until 2 minutes before start time and then wanting a summon is getting old. I dare say I will not summon anyone to Ulduar and saying 'I'm stuck in IF' isn't good enough, we are all old enough to tell time and there are enough PuGs hanging out at the stone looking for spots to take your place if you can't seem to find your way there.

If you sign up for a raid, you are expected to attend, and stay for the full 3-4 hours or you may not get to come to the next one. Having to find replacements half-way through because you found something better to do is over. Emergencies are one thing, but if you are having one everyday, you need to be looking at something other than WoW.

With all of this said Winter is coming and we are going to set up a more strict 3 days a week more advanced raid schedule. This does not include 10 man Nax, OS, and Mally. Not making those raids will not impact you being invited to TOC and ulduar. At this time I want everyone to either post a reply here or you can send me an in game message on which THREE days and times you would most like these raid days to be posted. Keep in mind that the times will be in 4 hour increments like as in something from 5-9 server time. Requests for unrealistic times like 10pm-2am will be completely dis-regarded and also like I stated this is all SERVER time NOT your time. I will put on deadline of a full week so all these requests need to be in by Sept 12th or they won't count. This should give those with jobs sometime to get somewhat of idea of what their work schedules are like and what days and times work best for them. If you do not submit one I will take that as you don't care and there for you have no room to complain later about how the times never work out for you to raid.
Sorry for this being so long but a lot of this needed to be said and since most don't even show up for guild meetings I found that having one to discuss this would be counter productive.
There are 142 Us servers and the Venture Co is ranked 121 in overall progression and gear. I know that that may seem like we are the suck of the suck but try and look at it another way. It just means that we don't have to have all the pressure of pushing this game more on to our lives then it already is and that as friends we can take our raids and turn them into good times all around. We have really great players and people in this guild and if we stop the dicking around and acting like children we can get a lot done and still have enough to keep us from being bored. Once again non of this is to hurt or offend anyone but more so to educate and point out somethings that needs to be worked on so that we are a more functioning lubed working team. Yes, I said lubed. I look forward to getting your feedback and am really looking forward to having some good winter time with all of you. Also sorry if my bad grammar and spelling offends anyone, deal with it you are not perfect either.[size=12]

Updates, Raid Stuff, General Information

by Aethwyn, 209 days ago

Given the success rate in our recent Crusader raid endeavors, I thought perhaps it was time to update our raid posts and offer a few reminders to everyone.

First off, GREAT JOB to everyone who has been a part of our raids thus far! Each and every one of you has been an asset to the raid group and your constant positive attitude and never ending suggestions have been a crucial part of our success thus far. To those of you who have not been able to be a part of our core raids, you guys still have my undying appreciation for your support and constant words of encouragement. I know it can be a little frustrating if you're not given a raid spot, but I hope all of you can understand that in order for us as a guild to progress and carve a name for ourselves, we first need the crème de la crème of our current group to see what the new content looks like, before we can start doing it regularly with different people. Don't despair! Happy

With that said, I don't think it's a secret that we've recently had a huge influx of people join TWE (yay!). Needless to say, these individuals are all really talented in their respective classes and roles, and I think having them has been a huge asset to us (we did an ALL-TWE 25 Naxx run!!). While I understand that with the large group that we've recently obtained getting to know them individually will be difficult, I think it's in our best interest to put forth our best effort to make everyone feel at home; much of our current and future raid group composition depends on how well we work together as a team.

Speaking of working as a team, the only way we can accomplish this particular goal (aside from knowing each other), is if everyone is prepared for the raid. While it's understandable that raiding is not your life, nor do you have time to watch videos of the fights because you just got back from work, etc., it is extremely helpful to everyone in the raid if you've at least read a little about a fight so that you're not heading into the instance with absolutely zero knowledge of the fight(s). Not to mention it is a really great time-saver when we're faced with the prospect of a long, wipe-induced progression raid. As Iri mentioned in the previous post, http://www.tankspot.com is a GREAT resource in watching boss fight videos, because the authors there provide their strategies and other information that we've found to be very useful in our own raids. So check it out!

Ulduar

Since the release of patch 3.2, I know we've been focusing more on the new content (i.e., Trials of the Crusader/Trials of the Champion). However, I think it's high time we pay General Vezax a visit, and perhaps have tea and biscuits with Yogg. Happy While some of you may scoff at the gear that drops there (219?? PFFT!), it's very important to keep in mind that the Keepers (i.e., Freya, Mimiron, Hodir, and Thorim) all drop tier tokens, as well as other great upgrades for individuals, so don't be so quick to eliminate Ulduar from your raiding experience. I think we'll try to set up a few Ulduar runs, and depending on how successful we are at them, the raid leader will probably extend the lockout period. The great thing about doing Ulduar now, post 3.2, is that most of you will be in raid-appropriate gear, and consequently will be putting out the DPS/healing required for this particular raid (hopefully); this means that most of you will have a chance to look at most of Ulduar. :D

Guild Bank

We are fortunate enough to have a guild bank with an abundance of mats for a plethora of professions. While I try my best to maintain the neatness and organization of this glorious bank of ours, I was hoping to bring attention to a few things:

If you have WoTLK green items that you'd like to put in the bank, please send them to one of our enchanters (Kriya, Galanai, Saeir, Cantela, Aage, etc.) to DE, so that we can have the shiny mats instead of the goopy greens.

We have a nauseatingly large amount of Dream Shards, so if you happen to be an up and coming enchanter (or enchantress!) and need these lovely shards to buy recipes, please let one of the officers know so that we can help you level that profession of yours. Same goes for WoTLK green gems that our up and coming JCers may need to raise their skills.

General Information

While I'm referred to as the guild Costco, keeping up with the demands of a 25-man raid group is somewhat strenuous on my budget and time. I absolutely do not mind providing flasks and fishies for everyone, but perhaps letting me know beforehand whether or not you intend on bringing your own flasks would allow me to plan more accordingly and bring a more exact amount of consumables and whatnot. As always, the buff reagents I carry are no trouble for me, so if you run out during a raid, don't be afraid to ask! Happy I carry all these things so that we don't have to waste unnecessary time waiting for people to hearth or fly back to X place, get the reagents, and be summoned back.

With the recent Blizzard confirmation of the new expansion, there has been a LOT of buzz going around in the game regarding absolutely everything. While this is a great way to foster relationships and get to know people's opinions and whatnot, sometimes it can get a little hectic in guild chat, especially when things like "Anyone want to DPS/heal for a heroic?" is almost instantaneously drowned out by talk of expansion; I think it's a little unfair. So in light of that, I think perhaps we'll make a channel (sort of like ChiiChat), where those of you who are interested in discussing the expansion in greater detail and depth will be free to do so with those who are interested.

I know this was a long post to read, and I commend anyone and everyone who made it this far! I figured that since there have been a lot of changes to TWE and the game as of late, that a post would be nice to say hi and stuff.

And as always.. *TACKLE*! :D

Humbly yours,
Aeth

GET YOUR ASS-HATS ON! *cough* Let's raid shit.

by AlaskanOtaku, 248 days ago

We need a new front page announcement, because the last one was from Ian almost half a year ago and he's a noob.

So here it is, bitches. Your obligatory update.

1) Ulduar 25! Yes, that's right, finally we have deemed Twilight Imperium to be ready to delve into Ulduar 25 with us. It might hurt our butts, it might make us want to cry a little, we might wipe a lot, but there WILL be progress and there will be victory. As Izzy says: Raiding is wiping.

2) Other raids and shit are still going on. Please sign up as you are able and please actually show up when you do sign up. It's sad when you don't and with the 25 mans it makes us look like jack-asses as much as it makes Twilight look like noobs.

3) If you are still getting geared to get into Ulduar and Ulduar 25 please please PLEASE take the time to read up on the fights and to watch videos on the bosses. Yes, we CAN explain the fights every time, but we'd really rather not. Tankspot.com is a great resource as is YouTube.com. Please don't be a lazy raider or a douchebag or else we will sick Semedi on you.

4) Recruiting is... well pretty much how it's always been. If you know someone who wants in, direct them to the web page or an officer. Some more regular, good players would be nice since the attendance of quite a few of our "regular raiders" has been spotty at best lately. So if you know someone you think would not be total fail, let us know.

And that's it. Continue to have fun, let us know what you need/want to do, and let's pwn stuff hard with sandpaper.
